Alison Gordon, Outsider

Alison’s career has spanned two decades and has seen her work recognized by many international awards. She’s worked in Canada, the US, and France. In 2016, after 5 years spent in Paris editing, she returned to Toronto to co-found Outsider Editorial along with Chris Murphy, another Toronto native, who had been working in Los Angeles. Outsider Editorial’s mandate is to be a global editorial boutique, our premise being that editors can be as mobile as directors. This outward focus and a commitment to remain flexible to the changing landscape of post has served us very well. In its first 3 years of business, Outsider landed on the Shots awards (the Americas) shortlist for Editing House of the Year (2020), Garnered and Academy Award shortlist in the Documentary Short Subject category (2019) in addition to working on many internationally awarded commercial campaigns.

Allison has also served on the board of the AICE (Association of Independent Creative Editors) 2016–2018, as well as the Global Awards Committee for the AICP (2019, 2020). In both positions, she was part of the effort to increase the international outreach of these award shows. She has also served as a juror for the AICP Post Awards (Fashion & Beauty category), the AICE Awards (all categories) and locally, the Marketing Awards in her hometown of Toronto.
