Celebrating 175 years of The Globe

Today we mark the anniversary of a Canadian institution. For 175 years, people have come to The Globe to better understand their community and their world.

The Globe and Mail has become a byword for trust, integrity, and journalistic excellence. We continue to engage the leaders of today and tomorrow: prominent, influential and educated Canadians across the country.

It’s been 175 years since George Brown created a newspaper to chronicle the country he would help create. What should we expect for Canada’s future?
We asked eminent Canadians what they thought.

A short history of our nameplate.

Take a look back at the history of our newspaper’s nameplate.

The last five years have seen some of the most dramatic changes to our company, and have stretched our lead over our competitors. The Globe Media Group is constantly exploring areas that strengthen our connection to Canada – audience insights driven by data science, new creative and content technologies – and the direct benefits to you, our valued marketing partners.

As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to our mission. The Globe will continue to investigate the stories that need to be told. We will innovate our platforms to lead the market for our clients and partners, and provide the solutions you need to grow your brands and businesses.

The fundamental strength remains our commitment to editorial independence that delivers the best content, to Canadians wherever they are, whenever they want it.

Thank you for your support over the years. We look forward to 175 more.
