The Globe and Mail’s Cannes Beach Party

The annual Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity hosts over 15,000 delegates from over 100 countries, serving as the Olympics of the advertising and marketing industry. From June 18-26, delegates are wrapped in a flurry of activity set against a glowing backdrop of the French Riviera. While it wasn’t to be a vintage year for Canadian winners, Canada’s Cannes Lions haul from 2016 was still impressive. 2016 saw Canada win 17 awards, including nine Bronze, six Silver, one Gold and the Bronze Young Marketers, compared to 43 awards in total, last year.

As usual, we were pleased to host our annual Canada Beach Party again, drawing a friendly crowd of over 300 Canadians to the waterfront for an evening of mingling, networking and fun. The beach party offers access to all Canadian delegates in attendance at the Festival, allowing a relaxing atmosphere to catch up in one place, and to celebrate together the successes of those who represented Canada on the world stage this year.
